Sr. Lizzy Chakkalakkal, a member of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, is on a relentless effort in building houses for those who otherwise cannot afford them. She founded the 'House Challenge' in 2012 with an objective to provide houses for the needy, mostly in the coastal areas of Kochi. As the Principal of Our Lady’s Convent Girls Higher Secondary School, Thoppumpady, she started out by reaching out to people. She collected the necessary money to build a house from teachers, parents and students to construct a house for the homeless ward. Successful completion of the first project gave her confidence to move forward with the support of more stakeholders. Last month, SrLizzy and team completed the 131st house and handed over the same to the owners.
